The Mariner Scholarship Program allows a sponsor to create a new scholarship or become the named sponsor of an existing scholarship.​ Scholarships typically cover 50% of a student’s tuition, which comes out to about $12,000 per year, for two years.​ This opportunity is open to individuals or companies.

As a company within the maritime industry, by sponsoring a scholarship, your investment in the future maritime workforce could also be a direct investment into your future employees. In combination with sponsoring a scholarship, your company has the opportunity to provide scholarship recipients and NMI students with externships at your company, which occur in the Northeast Maritime Institute – College of Maritime Science’s summer semesters. By training and evaluating potential future employees before they enter the workforce, you can help prepare future members of the workforce with the skills they need to succeed.
