Our Mission
The Northeast Maritime Institute Foundation was created to further the Northeast Maritime Institute’s creed of “Honor the Mariner.” The Foundation provides tuition assistance, scholarships, and financial support to students, organizations and communities that advance maritime and ocean interests and education globally.
Since 2015, the Foundation has been able to provide over half-a-million dollars in support through its various initiatives. Students pursuing a maritime education and training are the focus of the foundation.

Scholarships
The Northeast Maritime Institute Foundation proudly provides scholarships and tuition assistance to students attending the Northeast Maritime Institute, College of Maritime Science, offering a two-year Associate’s Degree in Applied Nautical Science. Here are two of our recipients from 2019!
Community Support
After Hurricane Florence, the Foundation made a $10,000 donation to the Boys & Girls Club of the Coastal Plain in Morehead City, North Carolina to help pay for a new roof and also coordinated with the student government at the Northeast Maritime Institute to deliver a trailer full of supplies to the community in Carteret County, North Carolina.
The Ocean Knows No Borders
The Ocean Knows No Borders is a documentary that highlights the amazing journey of Captain Aunofo Havea from the Kingdom of Tonga. Aunofo became the first commercially licensed female captain in Polynesia after studying at the Northeast Maritime Institute.
